Rainy Day Escape

This 9-by-12 inches, oil-on-paper study was done last summer on a rainy afternoon, when a fog of melancholia drove me to get out some old art supplies I hadn't touched in years. Once I got started I drew that set of steps at least a half-dozen times, one after another, almost in a frenzy. The first was with pencils, then I tried charcoal and finally went to oil sticks. This was the last of them. It's called "Escape."

Dave: Thanks for commenting/asking. I suppose the piece is for sale, although I hadn't given the subject much thought until you asked. However, if you want to discuss this further please email me (ftrea9@yahoo.com).
