My five favorite dishes that I enjoyed regularly at once-popular, but now long-gone Richmond eateries, are listed below, in alphabetical order:
1. The Capri’s “Sal Special” (1970s to early-80s)
2. Grace Place’s “Open-Faced Munster/Tomato/Sprouts Sandwich” (late 1970s to early-’90s).
3. Mad King Ludwigs’ “Cornish Hen” (late-1970s to mid-’80s)
4. Texas-Wisconsin Border Cafe’s “Softshell Crab Sandwich” (mid-1980 to’early’90s)
5. The original Village Restaurant’s “Submarine Sandwich” (late-‘1960s to 1980)
