In praise of short speeches

President Joe Biden's speech today marking the third anniversary of the infamous Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection mayhem was a good one. Wisely, it focused mostly on the evil of Trump's MAGA cult.

OK, how would I make it better? Cut the time in half.

This year Biden's stump speeches should be succinct and always be about one particular topic. So perhaps the next one should be about the economy. Then the next one could be about infrastructure accomplishments. In each case, make the speeches just 10 to 12 minutes long.

Then Biden should allow his surrogates to give the long speeches touting his record and his team's many strengths. The president should exude confidence; brevity will help sell that point.
