About 'without fear or favor'

Think about it: "Without fear or favor" is a powerful saying. We are accustomed to seeing/hearing it used in a context to mean being "fair." Being "just."

But the words say more to me. "Without fear" has to mean your stance is not that of one who has been intimidated; you aren't giving sway to fear.

"Without favor" says your action has not been fashioned to serve a hidden and/or undeserving benafactor; it has not been bought.

Consequently, "without fear or favor" is a sometimes abused phrase that should not be used to serve a bullshit political agenda.
