Except for the different form of government (dictatorial vs democratic) weren't the occupations of Tahrir Square, and other public spaces in the Arab world driven by the same conditions as those being decried in the US - a daunting future for the youth of those nations, and all the wealth in the hands of the ruling elite? Yes, they had genuinely bad dudes imposing those conditions, while we only have a bad system to blame, and it's hard to pull a bad system out of a storm drain and shoot it. OTOH, if our economy continues to spin its wheels for another 2-3 years, keep your eyes peeled for disaffected youths looking for someone, rather than something, to blame.Ernie Brooks, Washington, DCnoreply@blogger.com
