The team rented the facility from the RMA, which did a good a job keeping it up as they do the potholed Expressway and parking decks (though the new express lanes are a well deserved thank you).

The RMA never did a thing to improve the field from the time Parker Field was built (It was left out of the equation when the Diamond was constructed and RMA took over). That was evidenced by the fact that in 2004 when we had a great team (that no one went to see b/c of a crummy facility) and they made it to the IL Finals v. Buffalo after missing about 8 or 10 games in late summer due to all the (unusual) summer rains that flooded the outfield.

The Braves ended up having to play the IL FInals HOME games scheduled for the Diamond in Buffalo. Not surprisingly, the Bisons won the IL title and the RMA FINALLY spent $500,000 to fix the field.

Right on time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5640358.post-28171579137832523512009-04-26T14:13:00.000-04:002009-04-26T14:13:00.000-04:00I wish Richmond schools were adequate.
But this d...I wish Richmond schools were adequate.

But this does bring up an interesting question- what is VCU's role in this stadium proposal nonsense? Is the Boulevard the new location for VCU's satellite campus?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5640358.post-61815427748778774892009-04-24T22:07:00.000-04:002009-04-24T22:07:00.000-04:00Just what Richmond needs, another perfectly adequa...Just what Richmond needs, another perfectly adequate facility. That should be our city slogan, Richmond, Perfectly Adequate.pClarknoreply@blogger.com
